The IDC Story

Founded in 2016 and registered as a Section 8 Company (Non-Profit) with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in 2023, the Indian Darts Council (IDC) is the national body dedicated to promoting and developing darts across India. Our mission encompasses spreading awareness, establishing standardized practices aligned with global standards, and organizing competitive events to foster talent at all levels.

 

Darts is celebrated for its simple, captivating gameplay that bridges generational and cultural divides, making it a sport that truly unites. IDC embraces the intrinsic ability of darts to foster a spirit of fair play, discipline, and teamwork among participants. With India’s strong foundation in precision target sports like Archery and Shooting, IDC is committed to leveraging this expertise to excel in darts on a global stage.

 

The necessity for IDC was driven by the lack of adequate opportunities for darts players within the existing framework in India. To address this gap, IDC was initiated by a group of passionate individuals determined to provide a vibrant, active platform for Indian darters.

 

A landmark event held in September 2019 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, marked our first Nationals Championship, undertaken jointly with the Darts Association of Bengal and Tamil Nadu Darts Council. This event set the stage for IDC's future endeavors in promoting darts in India.

 

Despite facing significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, IDC successfully organized the National Championship in June 2022, in collaboration with the Darts Association of Bengal and the Bengal Rowing Club.

 

Beyond these, IDC has conducted various national and state events, drawing participation from players across the nation. These events have not only helped popularize the sport but also created more dynamic opportunities for Indian darters.
